ADHD stands for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects both children and adults, although it is often first diagnosed in childhood. ADHD is characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that can significantly impair a person’s daily functioning and quality of life. Here are some common symptoms:

  • Inattention refers to difficulties in maintaining focus, staying organized, and completing tasks unrelated to defiance or comprehension challenges.
  • Hyperactivity is characterized by constant movement, inappropriate behavior, excessive fidgeting, tapping, or talking, and in adults, it may manifest as restlessness or excessive talking.
  • Impulsivity involves acting without thinking, lacking self-control, desiring immediate rewards, and making hasty decisions without considering long-term consequences.
